About us
Built for academia, by academia.
We’re Hannah and Tjark – a couple from Germany, building BibFox at the intersection of teaching and technology.
Hannah is a PhD student who teaches at a university. During grading periods, she kept running into the same exhausting loop: students submit work that looks (AI-) polished, but content is weak and some references just don’t exist. Verifying them by hand meant hours of searching, losing time she wanted to spend on teaching, her dissertation, or simply catching her breath.
Naturally, she tried online tools first but kept ending up with a bunch of false negatives. Meaning, she still had to do the manual research anyway. That was the moment it became clear: if we wanted something she could rely on, we had to build it ourselves.
Tjark comes from strategic finance and process optimization, where the job is to turn messy workflows into reliable systems. Together, we mapped Hannah’s real review process step by step and redesigned it with an AI-first mindset. Based on that, Tjark built the first algorithm and helped her to review student theses more efficiently. BibFox started as “just a helper for Hannah”, and quickly envisioned a revolution in academic review workflows.
Soon, Tjark started working full-time on it. Today, BibFox helps you focus on the work that actually matters.
We hope you like it,
Hannah and Tjark
